Hotels and resorts are finding a simple way to make traveling easier in 2021: on-site COVID-19 testing, frequently complimentary and sometimes from the comfort of your own guest room. The initiative is especially helpful following a new CDC guideline that requires Americans coming home from abroad to show a negative coronavirus test before boarding their return flight. Club Med

Locations throughout North America, South America, the Caribbean, Europe and Africa

These family-friendly, all-inclusive resorts now offer free antigen testing at properties in Cancún and the Dominican Republic. Club Med Turkoise is also facilitating PCR testing at an additional charge. For additional updates, click here.

The Cosmopolitan

Las Vegas, Nevada

In an up-all-night destination like Vegas, it’s unsurprising that this hotel and casino has made getting tested easy any time, day or night. The resort’s Reviv IV Wellness Spa offers walk-in testing 24 hours a day: $100 for PCR tests and $40 for antibody tests. Guests who book a spa therapy treatment receive a $50 discount on testing.

Marriott International

Locations throughout North America, South America and the Caribbean

The multinational chain’s 270 properties in the Caribbean and Latin America are offering on-site testing at some locations and transportation to off-site testing at others, with costs varying per location.

Nobu Hotel Palo Alto

Palo Alto, California

This Silicon Valley boutique hotel is offering on-demand concierge medical services including in-room testing, nurses on demand, telehealth consultations and antibody testing. Email for information about pricing.


W South Beach

Miami Beach, Florida

This beachside hotel has partnered with Solis Health to offer on-site PCR testing, with results available in under 24 hours. Guests can sign up using a QR code in their room, before heading down to the ground floor to get their test.



Locations throughout Mexico

Encompassing luxury brands such as Dreams, Secrets and Zoetry across Mexico, this hotel group will now include antigen testing as part of its all-inclusive package, to comply with testing requirements for American travelers. If the test comes back positive, the resort will cover quarantine at the property for up to 14 days.

Andaz Mayakoba

Playa del Carmen, Mexico

This relaxed resort in the Riviera Maya has partnered with Azumed Laboratory to offer pre-departure testing to comply with international travel regulations. The tests cost $190 and must be scheduled 24 hours in advance with the concierge, and most results are returned within 12 hours by email. Note that those getting tested on Sunday receive their results on Monday.


Bahia Principe Hotels and Resorts

Locations in Mexico, Jamaica and the Dominican Republic

Bahia Principe is offering free antigen tests until March 31, as well as free travel insurance for guests who book a minimum of three nights. The tropical resort chain will also give guests 10 percent off their next stay.

Banyan Tree Cabo Marqués

Acapulco, Mexico

Banyan Tree Cabo Marqués’ 45 private pool villas are already ideal for social distancing, but now the scenic resort—set atop the hillside of Punta Diamante—is also offering guests COVID testing. Both antigen tests (approximately $57 USD + 16% VAT per person) and PCR tests (approximately $150 USD + 16% VAT per person) are performed inside the guest’s villa.

Banyan Tree Mayakoba

Playa del Carmen, Mexico

This five-star eco-resort boasts 34 beachfront pool suites in Mexico’s Riviera Maya, with seven overwater villas expected to be available for booking in Spring 2021. Now, guests can also take advantage of a complimentary antigen test, with PCR tests available for approximately $130 USD.

The Cape, a Thompson Hotel

Los Cabos, Mexico

The Cape, home to the only rooftop bar and lounge in Cabo San Lucas, offers complimentary antigen testing seven days a week, with results expected in 24 hours. The concierge team can provide information regarding other local testing options upon request. Conrad Punta de Mita

Nayarit, Mexico

The newly opened oceanfront Conrad Punta de Mita property in Mexico's Riviera Nayarit features open-air architecture that nods to the local Huichol culture's connection to nature. The resort is now offering two convenient, on-site COVID testing options: PCR tests cost $185, and antigen tests are $65.

Encantada Tulum

This boutique property comprised of just eight rooms is now offering guests antigen tests for $50, with PCR tests available for $240. Email to schedule testing.


The Excellence Collection

Locations in Mexico, Jamaica and the Dominican Republic

The resorts of The Excellence Collection offer free testing for guests returning to countries that require a negative COVID test (antigen tests for Americans, PCR tests for Canadians). For visitors from other countries, PCR tests cost $150. Testing is available each morning at the resorts’ on-site medical centers.

Fairmont Mayakoba

Playa del Carmen, Mexico

A breathtaking beach is the main attraction at this resort on the Mayan Riviera. The Fairmont offers a complimentary antigen test for all guests staying three nights or longer—PCR tests cost $150. Extended stays resulting from positive tests cost $199 per room, per night, with breakfast included.

Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita

Punta Mita, Mexico

This property on an isolated cape near Puerto Vallarta boasts luxurious amenities, including a private yacht. The hotel provides access to COVID testing at the on-site Hospital Punta Mita, with antigen and PCR tests costing $64 and $188, respectively.

Four Seasons Resort and Residences Los Cabos at Costa Palmas

Los Cabos, Mexico

On the East Cape of the Baja California Peninsula, the Four Seasons Resort and Residences at Costa Palmas offers a respite from the Cabos crowds just 45 minutes away. Now, guests can also get easy access to on-site COVID testing by scheduling a rapid antigen test ($50) with the hotel concierge or via the Four Seasons App Chat program. Results are available in 40 minutes, with documentation provided prior to check-out for travelers headed to the U.S.

Grand Residences Riviera Cancun

Puerto Morelos, Mexico

Halfway between Cancun and Playa del Carmen, the hacienda-style architecture and wide array of amenities at this resort will make you feel relaxed and refreshed. The resort offers complimentary antigen testing, and PCR tests cost $110.

Grupo Xcaret

Mexico’s Xcaret eco-adventure parks combine natural wonder with cultural heritage. Guests at Xcaret’s hotel in Cancun can receive antigen tests for free and PCR tests are available for a fee. Antigen tests are also available at Xcaret parks for $19.

Hacienda Xcanatun by Angsana

Mérida, Mexico

This 18th-century hacienda features 18 spacious suites, a spa and access to local wildlife in Suite 319, which doubles as a veterinary hospital. Now, the property also offers convenient on-site antigen (approximately $68 USD) and PCR (approximately $170) testing.

Hard Rock Hotel Cancun

Cancun, Mexico

Owing to the CDC mandate requiring negative tests results to re-enter the United States, the Hard Rock is offering two free antigen tests per room, with the option to buy additional tests for $50.

All the usual resort amenities are here, plus family-friendly additions like a bowling alley and the “Cavern Club” game room. Want to try a camel safari in Baja California? It’s possible at this Hilton property, which also offers mountain biking, whale watching and other outdoor activities. On-site COVID testing costs $30 for antigen tests and $220 for PCR tests.

Karisma Hotels and Resorts

Locations in Mexico, Jamaica and the Dominican Republic

Karisma’s property portfolio includes Nickelodeon- and Margaritaville-branded resorts as well as luxe options such as Mexico’s El Dorado resorts. The chain will provide free on-site antigen testing and, if needed, complimentary quarantine lodging for up to 14 nights.

La Coleccion Resorts

Locations in Mexico and the Dominican Republic

This glamorous chain has properties in desirable destinations like Punta Cana, Acapulco and the Mayan Riviera. Free antigen testing is available at all properties. Should a guest test positive, La Coleccion will charge just $10 for lodging with 24-hour recovery assistance for an extra $4 per night.

La Valise Tulum

At this newly renovated boutique hotel, guests in the Master Suite can roll their bed onto an ocean terrace to sleep under the stars. Locations in Mexico

Marival Resorts will provide free COVID tests, with results within 24 hours, to U.S. guests staying three nights or more at its properties in Punta Mita and Nuevo Vallarta. Guests who test positive will receive free accommodations for up to 14 days, while family and friends will receive a discounted rate on their stay.

With modern rooms, four Baja-inspired dining concepts, poolside spa services and an extraordinary location in a secluded cove, this is one of Los Cabos’ most impressive resorts. Montage offers complimentary on-site antigen testing.

This hospitality chain operates dozens of properties in destinations from Latin America to Spain and Italy. At the Mexican and Caribbean resorts, complimentary antigen tests are being offered to all guests from the U.S. through April 4. 

Palmaïa, The House of AïA

Playa del Carmen, Mexico

This waterfront wellness resort in the Riviera Maya now offers complimentary antigen tests with same-day results. PCR tests ($150) are provided through a partnership with a local medical center, with results available within 48 to 72 hours. Should a visitor test positive, the resort will offer 14 nights of complimentary quarantine within the guest suite, including three meals per day.

Planet Hollywood Beach Resorts

Locations in Costa Rica and Mexico

Two Planet Hollywood-branded resorts in Latin America offer U.S. guests the chance to take a COVID test for travel. The Costa Rica resort offers on-site PCR testing for a $150 fee, with results available within 36 to 48 hours. The Cancun property offers free antigen tests with same-day results.

Playa Hotels and Resorts

Locations in Mexico, Jamaica and the Dominican Republic

At its 17 resorts in Mexico and the Caribbean, Playa Hotels will offer complimentary antigen testing through April 30 and discounts of up to 50 percent on accommodations for guests who test positive and need to quarantine for up to 14 days. Free testing is available for visitors staying at properties in Mexico or the Dominican Republic for at least three nights, and for those staying at least five nights in Jamaica.

The Royalton chain operates resorts across the Caribbean, from Cancun to the West Indies. In Mexico, Jamaica and the Dominican Republic, tests are administered on-site for free with same day results. Guests in Saint Lucia and Antigua will incur a fee of $150 to $200, with results available in up to 72 hours.

All-inclusives are a dime a dozen on the Mayan Riviera, but UNICO sets itself apart with rustic natural decor, locally inspired, mixologist-driven cocktails, and unforgettable excursions (such as the opportunity to swim with dolphins). The resort provides medical assistance insurance and two complimentary antigen tests per room.

This adults-only hotel, just a few blocks away from Puerto Vallarta’s Malecon boardwalk, offers PCR tests ($3,000 pesos, or about $150 USD) to all guests traveling back to the US, Canada and other destinations requiring negative test results upon reentry. Appointments are scheduled with the hotel’s concierge and can take place on the property or at any of four laboratory locations partnering with Villa Premiere.

Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

Near the southernmost tip of Baja California, this cliffside resort offers COVID-19 testing on-site, which you can schedule with your personal concierge. Antigen tests cost $30, with results expected the same day. PCR tests are also available for $220, with results expected in 24 hours.

All visitors arriving in The Bahamas must receive a negative swab test less than five days before arrival and then apply for a Bahamas Travel Health Visa. Upon arrival at the resort complex, guests pass through a thermal temperature scan. Prior to departure, testing is available on-site to allow for re-entry back into the United States—rapid antigen tests are complimentary and PCR tests cost $165.

Baha Mar Resort

Upon arrival at this sprawling resort complex on the island of Nassau, guests will receive a complimentary rapid antigen test during check-in and then await results (which usually arrive in 30 minutes) from the comfort of their room. A second test is administered to guests staying four days or longer. For those who require a negative test to return to their home countries, Doctor’s Hospital Nassau will administer on-site PCR tests for $125 and rapid antigen tests for $25. You’ll find 10 restaurants, four pools and a mile of private beach at this spectacular Aruban resort. Divi & Tamarijn charges $125 for a PCR test and $50 for an antigen test; all testing is booked in advance through guest services.

At this beachfront resort you can hit the links at the Jack Nicklaus-designed golf course or take in a diamond-dust massage before returning to one of 65 accommodations, including boutique villas with private swimming pools. Complimentary antigen and PCR tests are administered in-room.

The highlight of this sister resort to Anse Chastanet is its organic architecture, with plenty of space to relax in its well-equipped spa and fitness studio. All COVID tests are conducted in guests’ rooms. Antigen tests are complimentary. This resort chain recently announced it will provide on-site COVID testing at many of its properties in the Americas. Owing to St. Thomas' status as an overseas U.S. territory, travelers are not required to submit a negative test when returning to the U.S. from the island. For extra peace of mind, this Ritz property has partnered with a local clinic to provide COVID-19 tests upon request. Antigen tests cost $100, with PCR tests available for $150.

Beginning January 26, Renaissance Aruba’s We’ve Got You Covered package includes complimentary antigen testing for up to two people per room. The package is available for stays of four nights or more, with rates begin at $332 per night. Resort guests who do not purchase the package can schedule an antigen test for $50 per person prior to departure.

In order to comply with the new CDC guidelines, Sandals will now offer complimentary pre-departure testing for guests, with results available within one to two days.

Serenade Punta Cana Beach and Spa Resort

This massive resort on Cabeza de Toro beach in the Dominican Republic offers more than 600 rooms, eight restaurants, a casino and a disco. Antigen tests are complimentary for guests staying at least four nights, or $50 for all others. Results are available in 20 to 30 minutes.

Set alongside turquoise waters, this Caribbean resort is offering 45 percent off all rooms until July 31. Complimentary antigen tests are available in-room, and if you need a PCR test, Seven Stars will apply a $50 resort credit to the $185 overall cost of the test.

Renovated after Hurricane Irma, the Sonesta resort on Sint Maarten features an adults-only “resort within a resort” with three pools and five bars. A boutique property designed for equal parts adventure and leisure, Wymara now offers complimentary rapid antigen tests, which can be administered in guests’ rooms. PCR tests are also available and can be taken in a private lab just a few minutes away ($185 per person) or onsite at the resort ($125 per group of travelers).

At its two properties in Costa Rica, Casa Chameleon is providing complimentary on-site testing for guests staying five nights or longer. The chain offers rustic-chic decor in guest rooms, and outdoor adventures such as horseback riding.

This artfully decorated, 15-room boutique hotel offers views of the mighty volcanoes of Lake Atitlan. If needed, staff can assist with booking on-site COVID testing. Antigen tests cost 440 quetzals (about $57), and PCR tests cost 1,320 quetzals (about $170).

Nayara Resorts

Costa Rica

Nayara’s three resorts make excellent use of the Costa Rican rainforest, offering animal encounters, nature walks, ziplining and some of the best hotel spas in the world. Tests are administered in-room at each location for $275 per person.


The Carlton Hotel Dublin Airport

Dublin, Ireland

The €249 Test, Rest & Fly package at this airport hotel includes an overnight stay, breakfast and a PCR test, with results available within 24 hours on weekdays and 36 hours on weekends.

Room Mate Hotels

Locations throughout Spain

In October, this Madrid-based brand became the first hotel chain to offer free rapid antigen testing to all guests, with results available in about 15 minutes. A nurse will take a nasopharyngeal swab at check-in for those arriving between 1 and 10 p.m. or the next day if you arrive outside that window. The initiative has launched at four of the brand’s Spanish hotels in Madrid, Barcelona, Málaga and Granada, with plans to expand to other Room Mate properties around the world.

As part of their £179 Test & Rest package, Sofitel has partnered with HALO, a British-biotech firm, to offer self-administered saliva PCR tests. Guests scan their test kit on the Halo app and spit into a tube, which is then sent out to a nearby lab, with the results available by the next day on the app.
