When it comes to craft beers in Florida, places like Tampa–St. Petersburg, Miami and Jacksonville quickly rise to the top of the pack. While it might not be as big as those three metro areas, Panama City is no slouch when it comes to quality suds. Here’s a look at several notable spots in this city on the Gulf.

The Craft Bar

Located in Pier Park North, an outdoor retail space on the water, this brew pub is full of classic Florida style and character, including a bar and tables fashioned out of 100-year-old cypress limbs lifted out of the bottom of the Chattahoochee River. Gulf shrimp, grass-fed burgers and hand-cut fries pair well with the extensive beer list, which feature dozens of rare and regional brews.

Taproom

The vibe at Taproom feels like your best friend’s backyard. With indoor/outdoor seating, this laid-back craft beer spot on St. Andrews Bay is a great place to sample some of PCB’s best food trucks and listen to live tunes. On tap there is an extensive roster of local ales, including favorites like Idyll Hounds’ Divide and Conch’r IPA and Palapa Pale Ale.

The Brass Tap

Offering over 200 beers, with 60 on tap, in a spacious location fronting the Gulf of Mexico, The Brass Tap is a favorite haunt for locals and tourists alike. While the focus is on quality brews and craft cocktails, food is definitely not an afterthought — their street-style tacos and tempura-battered sliders have a cult following.

Fishale Taphouse and Grill

Panama City Beach’s original gastropub and craft-beer bar is consistently in the running for the best spot for brews on the beach. There are over 60 local and regional beers on tap with fresh, local seafood and some classic Creole fare mixed in. The brick patio is the perfect environment to take in the sunset.

Chan’s Wine World

While not your typical beer bar, Chan’s Wine World is nonetheless a premier location in Northwest Florida to acquire rare and small-batch beers. Founded by wine purveyor Chan Cox, this local’s spot serves up hundreds of brews, along with fine wines, spirits and an exceptional selection of charcuterie that can be wrapped up and enjoyed on the beach.
