West Palm Beach has little in the way of beaches. And Palm Beach is actually an island. Connected by a series of bridges spanning the narrow Lake Worth Lagoon, they are yin and yang. The small and tony Palm Beach, home to billionaires and presidents, is the epitome of sedate, manicured old money. The increasingly millennial West Palm Beach is a mid-size city with a thriving nightlife and dining scene. Although they're served by their own airport, their location, 90 minutes north of Miami, make them an ideal getaway destination, full of glamour and old Florida quirks, along with newer crowd pleasers such as craft breweries, edgy galleries and vintage stores.
